A suspension of 4-chloro-2-(methylthio)-6-[(2S)-2-(trifluoromethyl)-1-pyrrolidinyl]pyrimidine (1.45 g, 4.87 mmol) in CH3OH (15 mL) was cooled in an ice bath and treated slowly with a premixed solution of oxone (3.89 g, 6.33 mmol) in water (5 mL). The reaction was let stir at room temperature overnight. The reaction was diluted with water (20 mL) followed by saturated NaHCO3 (30 mL). The mixture was extracted with EtOAc (3×50 mL). The organic was combined, washed with saturated NaCl solution, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated to afford the crude title compound (1.55 g) as a yellowish oil. LC-MS (ES) m/z=330 [M+H]+.
