15-[2-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl methoxycarbonylmethyl amino)acetylamino]pentadecanoic acid tert-butyl ester (0.22 g, 0.405 mmol) was dissolved in THF (5 mL) and 1 N NaOH (0.405 mL) was added. The mixture was stirred under nitrogen for 16 h. The mixture was concentrated under vacuum. The residue was suspended in AcOEt (ca 25 mL) and water (15 mL) and AcOH (3 mL) were added. The organic phase was isolated and washed with water (15 mL)+AcOH (1 mL), water (15 mL) and dried over magnesium sulphate, and concentrated under vacuum.
