Procedure
Anhydrous hydrazine (1 ml) was added to a solution of methyl (2,3-dihydro-2,4,4-trioxo-6-sulfamoyl-1H-thieno[2,3-b][1,4]thiazin-3-yl)acetate (1.0 g) in methanol (10 ml) at ambient temperature with stirring. After 5-6 hours, the methanol was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was treated with water (10 ml). The pH was adjusted to 6.5 and the resulting precipitate was collected, rinsed with water and dried under vacuum to give 0.40 g (2,3-dihydro-6-sulfamoyl-2,4,4-trioxo-1H-thieno[2,3-b][1,4]thiazin-3-yl)acetic acid hydrazide, mp 230° C., dec.
