Reaction Steps
6.0 g of 6-cyano-2,2-dimethyl-4-[(N-cyano-acetimidoyl)amino]-2H-benzo[b]pyran obtained in Example 34 was suspended in 200 ml of acetonitrile, and 6.12 g of potassium carbonate, 0.75 g of potassium iodide and 7.53 g of ethyl bromoacetate were added thereto. The mixture was stirred under reflux for 2 hours. Then, the reaction mixture was cooled and then filtered to remove insoluble potassium carbonate and potassium bromide The filtrate was distilled to remove acetonitrile under reduced pressure. The residue was dissolved in 250 ml of ethyl acetate, washed with a saturated sodium chloride aqueous solution, and then dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. Then, ethyl acetate was distilled off under reduced pressure. The residual solid was recrystallized from ethyl acetate/n-hexane to obtain 4.8 g of the above identified compound in the form of crystals.
