A mixture of 2.56 g of methyl 2-[4-(5H-dibenzo[a,d]cyclohepten-5-ylidene)piperidino]ethoxyacetate, 6.6 ml of 2N sodium hydroxide aqueous solution and 25 ml of methanol was refluxed for 1 hr and concentrated. Water was added to the residue, adjusted to pH 2 with 10% hydrochloric acid and extracted with chloroform. The chloroform layer was washed with water, dried and concentrated to give yellowish brown liquid, which was solidified with a mixture of chloroform and ether to give 2.7 g of pale yellow amorphous solid, mp 75°-80° C.
