Reaction Steps
In Scheme 3, the starting material is 2-bromo-6-carboxyl pyridine 7. Addition of an ortho-substituted aniline derivative 2 using BOP chemistry generates 2-bromo-6-benzimidazolyl pyridine 8. A tributyl-tin activated pyridine 11 is added to 8 in the presence of a palladium catalyst to yield 2-benzimidazolyl-6-pyridyl pyridine 6.
