The title compound was prepared from {2-(Hydroxymethyl)-1-benzyl-5-[4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl]-1H-indol-3-yl}(oxo)acetic acid, potassium salt and aqueous HCl in substantially the same manner, as described in step 7 of Example 1. The product was obtained as an off-white solid; mp: 239-240° C. Mass spectrum (ESI, [M+H]+) m/z 452. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 8.24 (s, 1H), 7.81 (dd, 2H, J=8.86 and 2.14 Hz), 7.74 (d, 1H, J=8.56 Hz), 7.68 (dd, 1H, J=8.54 and 1.83 Hz), 7.46 (d, 2H, J=7.94 Hz), 7.37-7.26 (m, 5H,), 5.93 (s, 2H), and 5.56 ppm (s, 2H).
