Procedure
A mixture of N-(4-(2-chloropyrimidin-4-yloxy)-3-fluorophenyl)acetamide (100 mg, 0.36 mmol), 4-fluoroaniline (Aldrich, 40 mg, 0.36 mmol), and 1,4-dioxane (3 mL) was heated at reflux for 2 h. The mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the residue triturated with ether to give a gray solid. The product was dissolved in MeOH, treated with silica gel (150 mg) and the mixture concentrated to dryness. The compound was concentrated down on silica gel and applied to a silica gel column and eluted first with EtOAc then with 100:1 MeOH/NH4OH in CH2Cl2 to give the title compound (40 mg, 31%) as a white solid. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6) δ 10.19 (s, 1H), 9.61 (s, 1H), 8.33 (d, 1H, J=5.6 Hz), 7.71 (d, 1H, J=12.7 Hz), 7.40 (s, 2H), 7.30-7.26 (m, 2H), 6.86 (dd, 2H, J=8.3, 8.3 Hz), 6.50 (d, 1H, J=5.4 Hz), 2.05 (s, 3H); MS(ESI+) m/z 357.13 (M+H)+.
