To a solution of methyl 2-((S)-6-((R)-4-(2,6-dimethyl-4-(2-(methylthio)ethoxy)phenyl)-7-fluoro-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-1-yloxy)-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-3-yl)acetate (230 mg) in methanol (4 mL) and water (2 mL) is added potassium peroxomonoslufate (Oxone®) (490 mg). The mixture is stirred for 1 hour at room temperature and then partitioned between dichloromethane and water. The organic phase is dried (MgSO4) and concentrated to give the crude product, which is directly in the next step. Yield: 220 mg; LC (method 4): tR=1.79 min; Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=553 [M+H]+.
