Reaction Steps

A solution of 2,3-difluorocinnamic acid (9.14 g) in ethanol (250 ml) with 10% palladium/carbon catalyst was hydrogenated for 5 h at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The reaction mixture was filtered through celite and concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound as a colourless solid (9.05 g, quant.) 1H-NMR (CDCl3) δ 2.70 (2H, t), 3.02 (2H, t) and 7.01 (3H, m).
