In a similar manner as described for Intermediate 18 (below), 6-(1-aminoethyl)-N-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazin-3-amine (Intermediate 9) (0.10 g, 0.33 mmol), triethylamine (0.10 mL, 0.73 mmol) and 3-cyanobenzoyl chloride (0.059 g, 0.36 mmol) in dichloromethane (10 mL) gave 3-cyano-N-(1-{3-[(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)amino]-1,2,4-triazin-6-yl}ethyl)benzamide (0.12 g) as a white solid. MS m/z 435 (M+1).
