Utilizing the general procedure outlined in Example 48, 1,1,2,2-tetraacetylethane (200 mg, 1.0 mol), 2-methyl-4-(trifluoromethoxy) aniline (191 mg, 1.0 mmol) and hydrazine (50 μL) reacted to give 1,4,5,7-Tetramethyl-6-(4-trifluoromethoxy-phenyl)-6H-pyrrolo[3,4-d]pyridazine as light yellow solid: 1H NMR (CDCl3, 500 MHz) δ 8.27 (s, 1H), 8.11 (s, 1H), 4.50 (q, 1H), 2.80 (s, 6H), 2.48 (s, 6H), 1.50 (t, 3H); MS (ESI) 298 (M+H)+; MS (ESI) 350 (M+H)+.
