Reaction Steps
Compound [III] (1.50 g, 3.32 mmol) was combined with 8-bromooctanoyl chloride (0.963 g, 3.99 mmol) following the conditions used for (3). The crude oil was purified by silica gel column chromatography with 1:1 hexane/EtOAc as the eluant, giving 2.06 g (95%) of [IV] as an oil: NMR δ 1.17-2.00 (m, 24H), 2.23-2.50 (m, 6H), 3.36 (t, 2H, J=6), 3.60 (t, 2H, J=6), 3.63 (t, 2H, J=6), 4.77 (s, 4H), 7.33 (s, 10H).
