3-Aminobenzonitrile (442 mg, 3.7 mmol, 1 eq) is dissolved in dry pyridine (606 ul, 7.5 mmol, 2 eq), under an inert atmosphere of argon. 2-Chloro-5-(2-oxo-propyl)-benzenesulfonyl chloride (Intermediate A)(1.0 g, 3.7 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (2 ml) is added and the reaction mixture is stirred at room temperature overnight. The solvents are removed in vacuo and the residue is dissolved in DCM and 0.5M HCl. The phases are separated and the organic portion is washed with brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound.
