Procedure
2-(1-cyclohexyl-7-methoxy-3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl)-N-(2-{[cis-2-(methoxymethoxy)cyclopentyl]oxy}ethyl)-2-oxoethanamine (500 mg) was dissolved in MeOH (8 mL). To the reaction liquid was added 4 M HCl/EtOAc (0.8 mL) under ice-cooling, followed by stirring at 60° C. for 5 hours. The solvent was evaporated and saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate was added to the resulting residue, followed by extraction with chloroform. The extract was washed with saturated brine, and then dried over magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated and the resulting residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (chloroform-MeOH) to obtain cis-2-(2-{[2-(1-cyclohexyl-7-methoxy-3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl)-2-oxoethyl]amino}ethoxy)cyclopentanol (380 mg).
