Following the procedure as described in PREPARATION 6A, and making non-critical variations using 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-6-ol to replace 3,4-dimethylphenol, and 1-(diphenylmethyl)-6-fluoro-1H-indole-2,3-dione to replace 1-(diphenylmethyl)-1H-indole-2,3-dione, 1-(diphenylmethyl)-6-fluoro-3-hydroxy-3-(6-hydroxy-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-yl)-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one was obtained (84%): mp 147-149° C.; 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) 8.80 (s, 1H), 7.44-7.20 (m, 11H), 6.90 (s, 1H), 6.79-6.72 (m, 1H), 6.59 (s, 1H), 6.45 (s, 1H), 6.20-6.17 (m, 1H); MS (ES+) m/z 450.1 (M−17).
