Procedure

To a solution of (R)-2-(benzyloxycarbonylamino)-3-(1-chloropropan-2-yloxy)propanoic acid in MeOH (10 mL) was added Pd on Carbon (10 wt %, catalytic amount). The mixture was stirred under H2 (1 atm) for 2.5 hours and filtered through a plug of Celite® and rinsed with MeOH. Solvent was removed to give (R)-2-amino-3-(1-chloropropan-2-yloxy)propanoic acid as an off-white solid (308 mg, 96%). MS [M+H] found 182.1.
