A mixture of the product from step (vii) (1.2 g) and KOH (5M in water, 5 ml) in MeOH (15 ml) was heated under reflux for 18 h. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue dissolved in water (15 ml). The solution was adjusted to pH7 with 2M HCl then the solid filtered, washed with water then ether to afford the subtitle compound, 1.13 g
