(S)-tert-butyl 2-((1-(4-methoxy-2,6-dimethylphenylsulfonyl)piperidin-2-yl)-methoxy)acetate (1 eq.) was dissolved in dichloromethane (10 ml/mmol) and cooled, and trifluoroacetic acid (13 eq.) was added slowly at 0° C. After stirring for 2 h at room temperature, the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and dried. The crude product was used in the next stage without being purified further. Yield: quantitative
