A solution of {5-[6-(cis-4-butylcyclohexyloxy)-naphthalen-2-yl]-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxinan-5-yl}-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (0.101 g, 0.000197 mol) and N-iodosuccinimide (56 mg, 0.00025 mol, Acros) in methylene chloride (3.0 mL, 0.047 mol, Acros) was stirred at room temperature under an atmosphere of Argon. To this was added zirconium tetrachloride (14 mg, 0.000060 mol, Strem). After 5 min, the reaction mixture was evaporated then diluted with methylene chloride, silica gel was added and the solvent was evaporated. The material was purified by silica gel chromatography to give the product in 111 mg yield (88%).
