A mixture of 1.05 g of methyl 5-[6-({[tert-butyl(dimethyl)silyl]oxy}methyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridin-3-yl]-3-{[2-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl]oxy}thiophene-2-carboxylate (compound B2a) and 100 ml of a saturated solution of ammonia in methanol was stirred in an autoclave at 120° C. for 3.5 h. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool down to room temperature, concentrated to dryness, dissolved in dichloromethane and filtered through a plug of silica gel (eluents: dichloromethane/ethyl acetate) to yield the title product.
