1.9 g of N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-N'-(2-cyanoethyl)-N,N'-dimethyl-ethylenediamine (Example 25-b) were dissolved in 100 ml of saturated methanolic ammonia and hydrogenated with 5 g of Raney nickel at RT under 10 atmospheres of H2 for 24 hours. The catalyst was filtered off and washed with MeOH and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was taken up in toluene, insoluble material was filtered off, the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was dried. 1.93 g of product were obtained.
