Reaction Steps
The title compound was prepared from (3S)-(+)-3-(3-bromophenyl)-3-(7-benzyloxyindolin-1-yl) propan-1-ol (13b) by a sequence analogous to that described immediately above. Column chromatography (ethyl acetate--light petroleum (b.p. 40°-60° C.), 1:4) provided the title compound (74%) as a yellow/brown oil; [α]D22 +188 (c=0.007 gml-1, CHCl3).
