The title compound was prepared by Method A using 1-phenyl-1-(trimethylsilyloxy)ethylene (4.17 g, 21.72 mmol) and diethyl ester of [(2-ethylphenyl)thio]propanedioic acid (1.5 g, 10.86 mmol). m.p. 190°-192° C.; 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 1.25 (t, 3H), 2.78 (q, 2H), 6.89 (s, 1H), 6.92 (m, 1H), 7.08 (m, 2H), 7.2 (m, 1H), 7.58 (m, 3H), 7.86 (m, 2H).
