Methyl 4-[3-(2-benzyloxyphenyl)propyl]-2-hydroxybenzoate was prepared from methyl 4-[3-(2-benzyloxyphenyl)propenyl]-2-hydroxybenzoate by the method described in Example 9 for the synthesis of methyl 4-[2-(2-benzyloxyphenyl)ethyl]-3-aminobenzoate from methyl 4-[2-(2-benzyloxyphenyl)ethenyl]-3-nitrobenzoate.
