Methyl 4-[3-(2-benzyloxyphenyl)-propyl]-2-methoxybenzoate was synthesised from methyl 4-[3-(2-benzyloxyphenyl)-propyl]-2-hydroxybenzoate (prepared as described in Example 15) as described in Example 14 for the synthesis of methyl 4-[2-(2-benzyloxyphenyl)-(E)-ethenyl]-2-methoxybenzoate from methyl 4-[2-(2-benzyloxyphenyl)-(E)-ethenyl]-2-hydroxybenzoate.
