Reaction Steps
4.0 g (0.01 mol) of the product from Example 52 were dissolved in 50 ml of absolute tetrahydrofuran, and 20 ml of 1N NaOH were added while cooling with ice; once the reaction was complete (monitoring by TLC), the mixture was acidified with 22 ml of 1N HCl and extracted with dichloromethane; this was followed by washing, drying and concentration. The remaining residue was crystallized from tert-butyl methyl ether/petroleum ether. Yield: 3.3 g.
