Procedure
To 112.5 g. of p-tert-butylphenol heated at 100°-120° C. there was added in portions 123 g. of isatoic anhydride during about 0.75 hour. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool and was then extracted with hot ethyl alcohol from which the crude ester crystallized upon cooling. Recrystallization from n-heptane afforded the crystalline ester mp 142°-143° C.
