Reaction Steps
The starting material is obtained as follows: The solution of 10 g of 3-chloro-2'-fluoro-6-phenylmercaptomethyl-benzophenone ethylene ketal (Example 2) in 50 ml of methyl iodide is refluxed under nitrogen for 5 days. It is evaporated and the formed methyl phenyl thioether distilled off at 60°10.1 mm Hg, to yield the 3-chloro-2'-fluoro-6-iodomethyl-benzophenone ethylene ketal.
