Procedure

Reacting 2-[(2-aminoethyl)thiomethyl]benzimidazole with S-methyl-N-nitroisothiourea by the procedure of Example 2(ii) gives N-[2-(2-benzimidazolylmethylthio)ethyl]-N'-nitroguanidine. Treatment with hydrochloric acid gives the hydrochloride salt.
