Procedure
10 ml of iso-propylamine (III) and 50 ml of methanol were added to 5 g of the 5-(α-bromobutyryl)-8-hydroxycarbostyril (IV) obtained in Examples 1 to 3. The resulting mixture was heated under refluxing for 6 hours followed by concentration to dryness. The reaction product was further worked up in the same manner as described in Example 1 to obtain 4.2 g of a methanol solvate of 5-(α-iso-propylaminobutyryl)-8-hydroxycarbostyril (II) having a melting point of 136°-137° C (with foaming and decomposition).
