Reaction Steps
To a cooled (0° C.) solution of 0.425 g (2.19 mmol) of the product of Step B dissolved in 10 mL of dichloromethane was added 0.717 g (2.74 mmol) of triphenylphosphine followed by 0.908 g (2.74 mmol) of carbon tetrabromide. After 30 minutes the reaction was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirring was continued for 2 hours. The raction mixture was evaporated in vacuo and the residue was purified on a silica gel flash chromatography column eluted with 5% ethyl acetate/hexane to afford 0.373 g (66%) of the title compound.
