Procedure
Using the procedure of Example 1, the reaction of 29.0 g of 6-carbethoxyphenylhydrazine hydrochloride with 16.9 g of 2,2-dimethylcyclohexanone in 250 ml of 80% aqueous acetic acid afforded 21.1 g (58%) of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1,1-dimethyl-9H-dibenzo [b,d]pyrrole-6-carboxylic acid ethyl ester as an orange solid after chromatographic purification.
