Didecyldimethylammonium chloride (0.03 mol) was dissolved in 50 mL distilled water and sodium salicylate (0.04 mol) was added to solution. The mixture was stirred at 40° C. ifor 1 h. After cooling to room temperature, 60 mL of chloroform was added. The chloroform phase was separated and washed with distilled water until chloride ions were no longer detected using AgNO3. The didecyldimethylammonium salicylate was obtained in 95% yield. The product is insoluble in water and was dried under vacuum.
