Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Formic Acid | HCID 284 | — |
| Reactant | 5-Bromopyridine-2,3-diamine | HCID 691156 | — |
| Product | 6-Bromo-4H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine | HCID 911578 | — |
Reaction Steps
A solution of 2,3-diamino-5-bromopyridine (1.34 g) in formic acid (7 mL) was heated at reflux for 3 h. After cooling to room temperature, the solvent was reduced in vacuo to give an off-white solid which was recrystallised from methanol-water to give 6-bromo-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine as a pale orange solid.
