Reaction Steps

To a solution of (benzothiazol-2-yl)(m-tolyl)methanol (2.41 g) in dioxane (30 mL) is added manganese dioxyde (1.2 molar equivalent). The mixture is stirred overnight at room temperature, then filtered over a clarcel pad. The filtrate is concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue is triturated in heptane and diisopropyl oxyde to give (benzothiazol-2-yl)(m-tolyl)methanone
