Into a 500-mL round bottom flask, was placed a solution of N-(5-(3,4-dimethylphenyl)pyrazin-2-yl)-2-nitro-5-(piperidin-1-yl)benzamide (3.66 g, 8.47 mmol, 1.00 equiv) in methanol (150 mL). The mixture was treated with Pd/C (aqueous) (3.66 g) and stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere for 4 h at room temperature. The solids were filtered out. The resulting mixture was concentrated under vacuum. This resulted in 1.88 g (55%) of product as a yellow solid.
