Procedure
To a solution of 1,5-anhydro-3-[({4-[(6-chloropyridin-3-yl)methyl]-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinolin-2-yl}carbonyl)amino]-2,3-dideoxy-L-threo-pentitol (Example 1, 0.038 g, 0.095 mmol) in 1 mL of dioxane under an atmosphere of nitrogen was added 2-(tributylstannyl)-pyrazine (0.060 mL g, 0.19 mmol) and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) (0.011 g, 0.0095 mmol). The mixture was irradiated in a microwave reactor at 130° C. for 1.5 h, cooled to rt, and diluted with ethyl acetate. The organic solution was washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate and brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified via silica gel chromatography, eluting with 0-6% methanol in dichloromethane, to provide the title compound that gave a proton NMR spectra consistent with theory and a mass ion (ES+) of 446.0 for [M+H]+: 1H NMR (400 MHz, d6-DMSO) δ 9.52 (s, 1H), 8.74-8.70 (m, 2H), 8.64 (s, 1H), 8.34-8.30 (m, 2H), 7.77-7.66 (m, 1H), 7.63 (s, 1H), 4.16 (s, 2H), 3.82-3.72 (m, 3H), 3.69-3.53 (m, 1H), 3.04-2.99 (m, 1H), 2.92 (br s, 2H), 2.75 (br s, 2H), 1.96-1.66 (m, 4H), 1.65-1.55 (m, 2H), 1.13-1.09 (m, 1H).
