To a solution of 3-nitro-5-(2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1,4-benzoxazepin-7-yl)pyridin-2-amine dihydrochloride (1.0 g, 2.8 mmol) in acetic acid (20 mL) and ethanol (20 mL) was added Pd/C (10% wt/wt, 0.5 g) and the reaction mixture was stirred under H2 (45 PSI) for 1 hour. The resulting pale yellow solution was filtered through Celite and the filtrate was concentrated to give 5-(2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1,4-benzoxazepin-7-yl)pyridine-2,3-diamine dihydrochloride (0.92 g, 100%) as a yellow powder. MS (EI) for C14H16N4O: 257.3 (MH+).
