Procedure
Following the general procedure of Example 36, 2.8 g (10.39 mM) of α-methoxyimino-α-(6-chloro-3-benzothienyl)acetic acid were converted to the acid chloride and reacted with 2.33 g (10.91 mM) of 7-amino-3-methyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid to provide 385 g (80% yield) of 7-[α-methoxyimino-α-(6-chloro-3-benzothienyl)acetamido]-3-methyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid. NMR (CDCl3): δ 2.02 and 2.21 (two s, 3H); δ 3.1-3.85 (m, 2H); δ 4.01 (s, 3H); δ 5.06 (d, 1H); δ 5.86 (dd, 1H); δ 7.2-7.8 (m, 4H); δ 8.3-8.7 (m, 2H).
