A mixture of 5.5 g (15.3 mmol) of chloromethyl[bis(4-chlorophenyl](2-propoxy)silane and 1.5 g (17 mmol) of imidazole sodium salt in dimethylformamide was warmed to 80° to 90° for 2 hours, cooled, diluted with ethyl acetate, washed three times with water and once with brine, dried over magnesium sulfate, and evaporated to leave a viscous oil. Trituration with ether gave 1.0 g (19%) of the title compound as a colorless solid: m.p. 131°-133°; nmr (CD3SOCD3) 4.1 (2H, s), 6.8 (1H, s), 6.9 (1H, s), 7.4 (4H, d), 7.6 (5H, d).
