Reaction Steps

The residue containing compound (32) obtained in Reference Example 7 was reacted with L-histidyl-L-prolinamide (free base) in a similar manner as above. The thus obtained reaction mixture was purified by column chromatography using silica gel (150 g). The desired compound was eluted with ethyl acetate-methanol-ammonia water (20:10:1). After the solvent was removed, the product was lyophilized. Thus, 274 mg was obtained as a mixture of Nα -[(2S,3S)-3-acetylamino-4-oxo-2-azetidinylcarbonyl]-L-histidyl-L-prolinamide (34a) and Nα -[(2R,3R)-3-acetylamino-4-oxo-2-azetidinylcarbonyl]-L-histidyl-L-prolinamide (34b).
