Using the reductive amination procedure outlined in 1D, 3-fluoranthenecarbaldehyde (1A) and 2-methyl-2-aminopropanol (Aldrich) gave 2-((3-fluoranthenylmethyl)-amino)-2-methyl-1-propanol hydrochloride, mp 288°-290° (dec), (CH3OH/Et2O), (C, H, Cl, N).
