The above prepared (6-[1,3]dioxolan-2-yl-8-methoxy-2,2-dimethyl-2H-chromen-4-yl)-methanol was dissolved in 3 ml of THF and treated at 0° with 1.5 ml of 3N HCl. 60 min. later, the reaction mixture was poured onto crushed ice/AcOEt, the organic layer washed with water and brine, dried over magnesium sulfate and evaporated to dryness. Flash chromatography (SiO2 with n-hexane/AcOEt=1/1) afforded 123 mg of the title compound as colourless, viscous oil.
