A solution of 7-[3-(4-carboxy-phenyl)-1-pentyl-prop-2-ynyl]-4,4-dimethyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-quinoline-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.035 g, 0.07 mmole) in 2 mL of a 1:1 TFA/dichloromethane mixture was stirred for 30 minutes and concentrated. The residue was dissolved in 5 mL of dichloromethane and washed with 5 ml of saturated sodium bicarbonate, 5 mL of water and 5 mL of brine, the organic layer was dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to give 0.02 g of 4-[3-(4,4-dimethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-quinolin-7-yl)-oct-1-ynyl]-benzoic acid as brownish oil. MS (ESI): (M−): 388.
