Procedure

A mixture of the compound from step C (185 mg, 0.92 mmol) and MnO2 (1.60 g, 18.40 mmol) in acetone (15 mL) was heated to reflux for 1 h. The cooled reaction mixture was filtered through Celite and the filtrate was concentrated. Purification by chromatography (SiO2, 2:1 hexane/ethyl acetate) yielded 78 mg (43%) of the title compound. MS 200 (M+H)+.
