Procedure
A mixture of ethyl 2-[2-amino-3-(3,4-dimethylphenoxy)phenyl]acetate (3.2 g.), sodium hydroxide (0.9 g.) and water (50 ml.) was treated in a similar manner to that of Example 5-(2). The resultant residue was crystallized with a mixture of benzene and n-hexane to give 2-[2-amino-3-(3,4-dimethylphenoxy)phenyl]acetic acid (2.1 g.). mp 90° to 92° C.
