A solution of [(S)-1-(4-cyano-2-phenylaminophenylcarbamoyl)ethyl]carbamic acid tertbutyl ester (750 mg, 1.97 mmol) in AcOH (3 mL) was stirred for 18 h at 80° C. After cooling to RT, volatiles were evaporated under reduced pressure affording [(S)-1-(6-cyano-1-phenyl-1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)ethyl]carbamic acid tertbutyl ester (1.97 mmol) which was used without any further purification in the following step. LCMS: RT 3.55 min [M+H]+ 363.2.
