To a room temperature solution of 75 mg (0.13 mmol) of 3-(6-bromo-3-{2,2,2-trifluoro-1-[1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-indazol-5-yl]-1-hydroxyethyl}indol-1-yl)propane-1,2-diol in acetone-H2O (3:1) was added 34.2 mg (0.16 mmol) of sodium periodate. After 2 hours, the mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was basified and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo to afford 60 mg (71%) of (6-bromo-3-{2,2,2-trifluoro-1-[1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-indazol-5-yl]-1-hydroxyethyl}indol-1-yl)acetaldehyde. MS m/z 547.31 (MH+).
