A glass Parr vessel was charged with 10% palladium on carbon (0.07 g), methanol (50 mL) and 3-{2-(2-methoxyethyl)-1-[3-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)propyl]-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinolin-8-yl}-N,N-dimethylprop-2-enamide (0.66 g, 1.47 mmol). The vessel was evacuated and charged with hydrogen gas (40 psi, 2.8×105 Pa). The mixture was shaken at 50° C. for approximately 72 hours. The reaction mixture was cooled to ambient temperature and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to provide 720 mg of crude 3-{2-(2-methoxyethyl)-1-[3-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)propyl]-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinolin-8-yl}-N,N-dimethylpropanamide as a white semi-solid. MS (ESI) m/z 452 (M+H)+.
